Little Nightmares PS4 Download Size Revealed

The PlayStation Store listing for Little Nightmares confirmed the game’s file size on the PlayStation 4. Ahead of its late April 2017 launch, the product page showed that the horror adventure title would require 2.7 GB of hard drive space. This compact size was a notable detail for PS4 owners, particularly as many major titles released that year demanded installations of 50 GB or more. A smaller file size meant a quicker download and installation process, leaving ample storage for other games on the system’s stock hard drive. For players with slower internet connections, the modest requirement was a practical benefit.

Physical Six Edition Details

While a standard digital version was available, Bandai Namco Entertainment also prepared a physical release for collectors called the “Six Edition.” This version provided a disc-based copy of the game, appealing to players who prefer physical media or wish to save hard drive space entirely. The main draw of this edition, however, was its collection of bundled extras designed to enhance the player’s experience.

The Six Edition included two pieces of in-game downloadable content: the Scarecrow Sack Teapot Mask and the Upside-down Teapot Mask. These cosmetic items allowed players to customize the appearance of the protagonist, Six. The package also came with the digital original soundtrack, giving fans a way to enjoy the game’s eerie and atmospheric music separately. This curated collection of items made the Six Edition the definitive version for dedicated fans at launch.

A Story of Survival

In Little Nightmares, players take on the role of Six, a small nine-year-old girl trapped in a terrifying underwater structure known as The Maw. Described as an underground resort, this grim place is inhabited by monstrous, grotesque creatures. The primary goal is simple: guide Six to freedom by navigating the treacherous environments and outsmarting her colossal pursuers.

The gameplay combines elements of stealth, puzzle-solving, and platforming. Six has no direct way to fight the inhabitants of The Maw, so players must rely on cleverness and agility. This involves hiding in shadows, climbing furniture to reach new areas, and solving environmental puzzles to open up pathways, all while being hunted by the facility’s creepy residents. The power dynamic, where the player is small and vulnerable, is central to the game’s horror.

The Team Behind the Terror

The game was created by Tarsier Studios, a developer with a strong history on PlayStation platforms. The studio was well-regarded for its work on LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita and for porting and expanding Media Molecule’s Tearaway into Tearaway Unfolded for the PS4. While those games were known for their vibrant and charming aesthetics, Tarsier applied its talent for detailed world-building to the much darker, suspenseful tone of Little Nightmares. The project was published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and was set for a multi-platform release on April 28, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
