Game Idealist carries no advertising and no affiliate links. Links to stores and manufacturers are plain links; the site earns nothing when you follow them and receives no information about what you buy.

Products in the tables

SSDs, controllers and other hardware appear in the compatibility tables because readers ask about them or because they are widely sold for the console in question. No manufacturer pays for inclusion, supplies review units in exchange for placement, or reviews a page before it is published.

Data sources

File sizes come from the platform stores; error-code documentation from the PlayStation support pages; hardware specifications from the manufacturers; game metadata from IGDB. Where a page relies on a source, it says so.

How the site is funded

Game Idealist is run as an editorial reference without advertising revenue. There are no display ads, no sponsored posts, no affiliate links and no paid placements. Hosting and data costs are carried by the publisher. Should that ever change, this page will say so before any paid element appears on the site.

What "checked against the sources" means

Every data page names where its figures come from and shows the date they were last read. For file sizes that is the Microsoft Store catalogue and Steam; for error codes the PlayStation support index; for hardware the manufacturer's product page or datasheet. A figure that cannot be confirmed from one of those is left blank rather than estimated, and a drive with no manufacturer statement about the PS5 is marked as unverified rather than guessed at. Readers who find a figure that no longer matches its source are asked to say so through the contact page; the fix is a refresh, not an argument.

Trademarks and names

Console, game and hardware names appear on the site to identify products and nothing more. Game Idealist is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft, Nintendo, Valve or any hardware manufacturer named in the tables, and no logo or product image on the site implies endorsement by its owner.

Independence of the tables

Verdicts in the SSD checker and the controller matrix follow published rules: Sony's requirements for M.2 drives, and the manufacturers' own compatibility statements for controllers. A drive that fails a rule is marked as such regardless of brand, and a drive with no manufacturer statement is marked unverified rather than promoted. Nothing in the tables is ranked by price, popularity or commercial relationship.
