The vehicle roster was similarly expansive, with 46 distinct ships to unlock and master. Gameplay was spread across nine modes, offering variety beyond standard races. For multiplayer, the game provided options for both local and online competition. It supported two-player split-screen, allowing for direct, head-to-head racing on a single console. Online matches could host up to eight players, enabling larger and more competitive races.

Technical Enhancements and Soundtrack

Wipeout Omega Collection was built to take advantage of the PlayStation 4 Pro. On the upgraded console, the game featured support for a dynamic 4K resolution. This technique allows the game to scale its resolution in real-time to maintain a smooth and stable gameplay experience. The developers also targeted a more consistent frame rate on the PS4 Pro compared to the standard model, a crucial factor for a series defined by its blistering speed and need for precise control.

In keeping with series tradition, the collection featured a curated electronic soundtrack. An all-new selection of music included songs from well-known artists such as DJ Kentaro, Swedish House Mafia, The Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy. The Wipeout series’ identity has always been closely tied to its soundtrack, and this collection continued that legacy. The game was scheduled for release in North America on June 6, 2017.
