Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Download Size on PS4

The PlayStation Store has revealed the file size for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on PlayStation 4. According to the product page, the digital version of the remastered role-playing game required 40.68 GB of hard drive space. This information appeared on the store listing ahead of the game’s release on July 11, 2017, in North America.

For players with the standard 500 GB PlayStation 4, a 40 GB installation represents a significant portion of usable storage. With the operating system and other essential files reserving a portion of the drive, the actual available space is closer to 400 GB. Large games like The Zodiac Age often require players to manage their storage by deleting older titles to make room for new ones. A physical disc version was also made available at launch, which helps mitigate the impact of a large initial download, though the game still requires a full installation to the console’s hard drive.

Managing console storage became an increasing concern for players during the PS4 generation. In early 2017, PlayStation’s system software update 4.50 introduced a critical feature: support for external hard drives. The most significant change is the Zodiac Job System itself. Beyond the job system, the remaster introduced several quality-of-life improvements. A new Speed Mode allows players to increase the game’s pace, making traversal across Ivalice’s vast landscapes much faster. A Trial Mode was also added, presenting a 100-stage battle challenge for players to test their skills and party builds. The game’s audio was also overhauled, featuring a re-orchestrated soundtrack alongside the original score. Visually, the game received a full HD upgrade with improved character models and environments.
