New Box Art Images for the Star Wars Battlefront PS4 Bundles

In September 2015, updated Amazon listings for two PlayStation 4 bundles tied to Star Wars Battlefront revealed new box art images. The product pages offered a clear look at the retail packaging for both a standard bundle and a highly anticipated limited edition version, showcasing what buyers would receive.

What Came in the Bundles

Both hardware packages were built around a 500GB PlayStation 4 console and included a physical copy of the Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition. This premium version of the game provided players with additional in-game content at launch. A significant part of the bundles’ value came from a voucher to download a collection of four classic Star Wars games from the PlayStation Store.

The curated collection of retro titles included Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Star Wars Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars Racer Revenge, and Super Star Wars. Sony confirmed that these were not simple ports of the original games. Each title was being remastered with enhanced graphics specifically for the PS4. The inclusion of full Trophy support was another modern enhancement, allowing players to earn digital accolades for their accomplishments and adding a new layer of challenge and replayability to these classic experiences.

The Darth Vader Limited Edition Console

The main attraction for collectors was the Limited Edition bundle, which featured a custom-designed console and controller. The PS4 system itself was decorated with a large, detailed image of Darth Vader’s helmet across the top plate, set against a satin black finish. This striking design made it a distinct and collectible piece of hardware for dedicated fans of the Sith Lord and the Star Wars saga.

The accompanying DualShock 4 controller was also an exclusive item. Dubbed the “Darth Vader Edition,” its design was directly inspired by the character’s iconic chest panel, featuring a color scheme and button layout that mimicked his complex life-support system. To complete the theme, the controller’s touchpad was adorned with a repeating pattern of the Star Wars logo. This level of detail set the controller apart from standard designs and was a major selling point for the premium bundle.

Sony scheduled both the standard and the Limited Edition Star Wars Battlefront bundles for release in North America on November 17, 2015. The release was timed to coincide exactly with the launch of the game, providing a comprehensive day-one package for newcomers to the PlayStation 4 or for existing owners looking to upgrade to a unique, themed console.
