Until Dawn on Playstation 4 priced higher than cancelled Playstation 3 version

Until DawnAmazon finally put up a preorder page for Until Dawn on Playstation 4. The listing includes a box art and release date, both of which seem to be placeholders. The most interesting part is the price tag, which is $59.99.

Until Dawn costs the same as the other new releases on the next-gen system. If you have been following the videogame since it was first announced at Gamescom in 2012, then you should know that the Playstation 4 game started out life as a Playstation Move exclusive Playstation 3 game. Videogames that required the motion controller are normally priced less (usually around $40 at launch rather than $60).

For the Playstation 4 version of Until Dawn, Sony removed support for the Playstation Move altogether, forcing games to now use the button inputs and motion sensors of the Dual Shock 4 to control the eight playable characters. The graphics also got a significant boost as the videogame was rebuilt using an upgraded Killzone: Shadow Fall engine. These factors may have resulted in the price increase.

Until Dawn is releasing next year as an exclusive for the Playstation 4. After several teases, the videogame re-appeared during last week’s Gamescom.
