Notable PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Games Were Discounted in Early 2017

In mid-February 2017, online retailer Amazon discounted a wide selection of games for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The sale featured significant price reductions on major titles from publishers like Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Square Enix, covering various genres from first-person shooters to open-world adventures.

Xbox One Exclusives on Sale

Several titles exclusive to the Xbox One platform were part of the promotion. Halo 5: Guardians, the 2015 entry in the flagship Xbox series, was available at a 53% discount. Developed by 343 Industries, the game continues the story of Master Chief while introducing a new protagonist, Spartan Locke. Its campaign supported four-player co-op, and its multiplayer component featured both Arena and large-scale Warzone modes.

Rare Replay, a compilation celebrating the 30th anniversary of developer Rare, was offered with a 48% price cut. The collection included 30 games from the studio’s history, from the ZX Spectrum era to the Xbox 360, with titles like Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and Battletoads.

The open-world racing game Forza Horizon 2 from 2014 was listed with a 60% discount. Set in Southern Europe, the game was praised for its dynamic weather system and extensive car list. ReCore, an action-adventure title from Keiji Inafune’s Comcept studio, was available for 39% off. Released in 2016, the game follows Joule Adams and her Corebot companions on the desert world of Far Eden.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the 2015 installment in the historical action series, saw one of the steepest price drops at 76% off. Set in Victorian London, the game introduced dual protagonists, Jacob and Evie Frye, each with unique skills for navigating the city. Far Cry 4, the 2014 open-world shooter set in the Himalayas, was also discounted by up to 35%.

Batman: Arkham Knight, the 2015 conclusion to Rocksteady’s Arkham trilogy, was discounted by up to 25%. The title featured a sprawling Gotham City and introduced the Batmobile as a core gameplay mechanic. Another major title, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, was listed at a 68% discount. Eidos-Montréal’s 2016 cyberpunk RPG continued the story of augmented agent Adam Jensen.

MachineGames’ 2014 reboot, Wolfenstein: The New Order, was offered with a discount of up to 30%. The game presented an alternate history where the Nazis won World War II. For survival horror fans, the HD remaster of Resident Evil 4 was available for 25% off, bringing the acclaimed 2005 title to modern consoles.

Other Notable Discounts

Battleborn, Gearbox Software’s 2016 hero shooter, was heavily discounted by 85%. The game blended first-person shooting with MOBA elements. Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games’ narrative adventure, was reduced by up to 55%. The episodic series was acclaimed for its humor and storytelling.

Homefront: The Revolution, a 2016 open-world shooter, was discounted by up to 70%. The PS4 version of Exist Archive: The other side of the sky, a JRPG from tri-Ace, was offered at a 67% discount. Finally, Marvel Pinball: Epic Collection Vol. 1 was available with a price reduction of up to 34%.
