Its release was timed well for Pokémon fans on the Switch, following the late 2018 launch of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! and coinciding with the announcement of the next generation of games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

The case’s primary appeal is its faithful recreation of the original Kanto region Pokedex. The design mimicked the familiar look of the electronic encyclopedia from the games and anime, intended to resonate with long-time followers of the franchise.
