Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers Download Size for Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo eShop listing for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers revealed that the game required 2.7 GB of storage space for its digital version. The file size was confirmed via the game’s product page on the console ahead of its release.

For Nintendo Switch owners, managing storage is a key consideration. The console launched with 32 GB of internal memory, a portion of which is reserved for the system’s operating software. A 2.7 GB download, while modest compared to many titles on other platforms, represents a significant portion of the available space. To avoid storage issues, players had the option of purchasing the physical cartridge version of the game, which was made available for preorder. Alternatively, the Switch’s storage can be expanded using microSD cards.

New Content and Characters

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers was developed as a definitive version of the classic fighting game for the Switch. It includes two distinct graphical styles: the original 2D pixel art and a new high-definition look. Players can switch between these visual presentations.

The game also introduced two new characters to the Street Fighter II roster: Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. These are alternate, more aggressive versions of the series’ iconic protagonists. Evil Ryu represents Ryu succumbing to the dark power of the Satsui no Hado, while Violent Ken is a version of the character brainwashed and empowered by M. Bison’s Psycho Power.

Capcom added several modes exclusive to this release. A first-person mode called “Way of the Hado” utilized the Joy-Con’s motion controls to let players perform special moves like the Hadoken and Shoryuken from a new perspective. The game also featured a cooperative “Buddy Battle” mode, allowing two players to team up against a single computer-controlled opponent.

Art Book and Release Information

Beyond the new gameplay features, The Final Challengers included a digital art book containing more than 1,500 illustrations from the Street Fighter series’ 30-year history. This collection offered a comprehensive look at the franchise’s artistic legacy.

Capcom scheduled the release of Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers for May 26, 2017, in North America. Both the physical and digital editions of the game were planned to launch on the same day.
