Amazon Discounted Several Batman Games Ahead of Arkham Knight's Release

In early 2015, Amazon offered discounts on a variety of Batman video games. The sale coincided with the announcement of two PlayStation 4 hardware bundles for the then-upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, creating an opportunity for players to catch up on the series before its conclusion. The price reductions covered titles from the acclaimed Arkham series, the family-friendly LEGO Batman games, and other related titles across multiple platforms.

Arkham Series Price Reductions

The sale featured significant markdowns on Rocksteady Studios’ popular Arkham games. Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition for the Wii U saw the steepest discount at 77% off its list price. This version was notable for its use of the Wii U GamePad for inventory management and map display, as well as a special B.A.T. mode that powered up Batman’s suit. The Game of the Year Edition of Batman: Arkham City, which included all its post-launch DLC, was also reduced by up to 48% on platforms like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Its predecessor, Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition, which kicked off the celebrated trilogy and introduced the influential Freeflow combat system, was available for up to 21% off. To help players prepare for the new installment, the official Batman: Arkham Knight Signature Series Guide was also listed with a 29% discount.

LEGO Batman and The Brave and the Bold

For fans of a lighter take on the Caped Crusader, the sale included several LEGO titles developed by Traveller’s Tales. LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the most recent entry at the time, was discounted by up to 50%. The original LEGO Batman: The Videogame received an even larger price cut of up to 70%, while its open-world sequel, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, was marked down by up to 35%.

Also included was Batman: The Brave and the Bold, a 2D beat ‘em up for the Wii and Nintendo DS based on the animated series of the same name. This title, which featured co-op gameplay with various DC heroes, was available for 22% off.

Other Gaming Deals at the Time

The Batman sale ran alongside other video game deals on Amazon. Recently released titles like Battlefield Hardline and Evolve were discounted by 33%. BioWare’s role-playing game Dragon Age: Inquisition was also 33% off. On the PlayStation front, the Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide for the newly launched Bloodborne was reduced by 30%.

In the world of collectibles, which were rising in popularity, several Nintendo Amiibo figures were on sale. Figurines for Bowser, Diddy Kong, Mario, and Toon Link were all listed at 25% off their regular price.
