Good Smile's Fullmetal Alchemist Nendoroid Figures Received Release Dates

In early 2018, Good Smile Company’s upcoming Nendoroid figures based on the popular manga and anime series Fullmetal Alchemist had their release dates confirmed via listings on Amazon. The figures for the series protagonists, Edward and Alphonse Elric, were scheduled for an April 25, 2018 release. A third figure, for the character Roy Mustang, was slated to launch later on July 25, 2018. The Nendoroid line is well-regarded among collectors for its chibi-style designs, high-quality sculpting, and extensive articulation and accessories that allow for a wide range of display options.

Each figure was designed to capture the essence of its respective character, bundling them with interchangeable parts and props that reference iconic moments and abilities from the source material. Edward Elric Nendoroid Details

The Nendoroid for the Fullmetal Alchemist himself, Edward Elric, was part of the initial April launch. The figure came with three distinct face plates, allowing for multiple expressions: a standard confident smile, a serious or angry expression suitable for combat scenes, and a comical, flustered look that captures his short-tempered personality. This variety allows owners to recreate many of his moods from the series.

His accessories focused on his alchemical powers and signature automail arm. The set included specially articulated arm parts to facilitate dynamic poses. Despite his metallic exterior, the figure included parts to convey his gentle personality. It came with three different sets of eye parts to place inside the helmet, allowing for expressive changes from determined to relaxed or even panicked.

A standout feature was the figure’s removable chest plate. This detail was a direct nod to a running gag in the series where Alphonse would shelter stray cats inside his hollow armor. To that end, the Nendoroid came with two small cat figures, one of which could be placed inside his chest cavity. This thoughtful inclusion demonstrated Good Smile Company’s attention to character-specific details that resonate with long-time fans of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Roy Mustang Nendoroid Accessories

The State Alchemist Roy Mustang, also known as the Flame Alchemist, was scheduled for release on July 25, a few months after the Elric brothers. His Nendoroid also included three face plates: a standard confident expression, a more serious look for issuing orders, and a downcast, comical expression for when he is chided by his subordinates. His State Alchemist military uniform was rendered in detail, including his signature ignition-cloth gloves.

The figure’s main accessories centered on his powerful Flame Alchemy. It included flame effect parts that could be attached to his hands to recreate his classic finger-snap pose, simulating the moment he ignites the air. The set also came with a transmutation circle effect sheet to place at his feet. With articulated arm parts, the figure could be posed precisely to capture his most iconic and destructive ability.
