Reviews on Game Idealist are hands-on verdicts on hardware and games, written to answer whether a product does what its specification claims. They are few by design: the site's strength is data, and a review earns its place when a specification sheet cannot answer the question, such as how a headset actually sounds or whether a stand keeps a console cool. Each review carries its original publication date and states the firmware or version it was tested on, because the answer for a headset from 2016 is not the answer for the same headset after three years of updates. Reviews never carry affiliate links, and products are not accepted from manufacturers in exchange for coverage. Where a review is older than the current model, the text says so and points to the compatibility tables for the current picture.
