The Entertainment Software Rating Board has revealed its summary for Sonic Mania. The upcoming 2D platforming game ended up with an E (for Everyone) rating due to mild cartoon violence. You can check out the full ESRB rating description for the Sega-published title below:
This is an action-platformer in which players assume the role of Sonic as he zooms around colorful “zones” and attempts to defeat Dr. Eggman. As players run and jump through whimsical environments, they can jump on enemies’ heads, causing them to transform into small woodland creatures. Boss battles sometimes depict characters shooting “cartoony” bombs and/or oversized missles; Sonic reacts to damage by losing coin-like rings and falling off the screen when defeated.
Sonic Mania features a mix of new levels in addition to brand new zones. Gamers will be able to play as Sonic (with the new Drop Dash move), Tails and Knuckles. The game will run at 60 frames per second with pixel perfect physics when compared to the older Sonic The Hedgehog games.
Sonic Mania will be released later this summer for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC gaming platforms. If you are interested, the Collector’s Edition bundle of the platformer is available for preorder with this link on Amazon.
