Insomniac Games’ Drew Murray talks Ratchet and Clank PS4, Resistance and Sunset Overdrive sequel

sunset-overdrive-e3-rollercoaster-1Insomniac Games’ Drew Murray talked a little bit about various projects from his company during a Twitch live stream of Kinda Funny Games during GDC 2015.

The most interesting tidbits he discussed was the upcoming PS4 re-imagination of Ratchet and Clank. While the game will have the storyline of the original, he teased that Insomniac will be implementing some “greatest hits” aspects, such as weapons, from the sequels that followed the 2002 release of the first installment.

Drew Murray also said that the Ratchet and Clank is “amazing to see on the PS4,” implying that it looked like a Pixar movie running in real-time. He was particularly impressed with seeing Metropolis with busy traffic at a high resolution, using words like “shiny,” “stunning” and “beautiful.”

In regards to Resistance 4, he stated that he personally may have some interests in working on a new game for the series. With that said, he also enjoyed starting something new with Sunset Overdrive after spending five years working on the Resistance series.

Last but not least, Drew Murray was questioned about what is coming next for the Sunset Overdrive series. While he did not outright confirm Sunset Overdrive 2, he did reveal that his team will be finishing the development of the DLC for the first game on Friday.

He has also been talking with Marcus Smith, creative director of the original project, about new ideas about what they will be doing next. More people are being brought in on the new project the following Monday.

The above-mentioned PS4 re-imagination of Ratchet and Clank is expected to launch in 2015.
