In an interview with Kinda Funny Games during their Day 2 Game Developers Conference live stream, Media Molecule talked a little bit out the campaign and PlayStation VR support for the upcoming Dreams.
In regards to the campaign, the development team described the game portion of the software product as a tactile interactive adventure game with a lot of puzzles. By using an avatar, you will be able to interact with the world, such as being able to posses characters. Motion controls are used for certain functions, including opening doors.
With that said, Media Molecule also stated that there will be side missions where you can play traditional racing and shooter games to unlock. The developer hope that diversity in gameplay will help “sow the seeds” into the minds of users as to what is possible with the flexible in-game editor.
In terms of controls, you can either use two PlayStation Move controllers or the DualShock 4 while in the edit mode. A PlayStation 4 Camera is not required if you are using the DualShock 4.
As for PlayStation VR, Media Molecule revealed that Dreams will be a “holy grail” as it will be offering user created virtual reality experiences. With that said, the team is currently focusing on the core game first before implementing VR.
Dreams currently does not have a release timeframe. However, the team sated that they will have a pre-release data to test out and streamlined the creation tools.
