Activision and Platinum Games talk about the story and development of Transformers Devastation

TRANSFORMERS_Screen1_1434456999Robert Conkey of Activision, along with Atsushi Inaba and Atsushi Kurooka of Platinum Games, were interviewed about Transformers Devastation during GameTrailers’ live stream coverage of E3 2015. One of the more interesting questions was about the story of the action game.

Robert Conkey revealed that Andy Schmidt will be working on the game’s plot. The writer is responsible for the IDW comic series along with previously working on the Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark videogames. Hasbro and Platinum Games are also involved in order to keep the story cohesive.

Another interesting subject that came up was about how Transformers Devastation was green-lighted as a project. Activision actually came to Platinum Games first to purpose a Transformers game with cel-shaded graphics. While Platinum agreed to go ahead with the project, the studio wanted to use a retro look based on the classic cartoons as the team members are huge fans.

Transformers Devastation, which was formally announced at E3 2015, is coming out later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 home consoles. If you are interested, the licensed action game from Activision and Platinum is available for preorder with this link on Amazon.
