Complementary products to buy along with the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle

Sony will be releasing the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle later this October in North America and other regions. While the product comes with everything you need to get started with experiencing virtual reality on Sony’s current-generation system, there are other complementary products we suggest getting to further enhance your time with the VR headset.

PlayStation VR Launch Bundle

First let’s talk about what’s included in the bundle. The most notable of which is the VR headset, which measures at 187 mm in width by 185 in height by 277 mm length in addition to weighing approximately 610g. In terms of features, the virtual reality headset uses a 5.7-inch OLED display of 1920 by RGB by 1080 that provides a less than 18ms in addition to a refresh rate of either 90Hz or 120Hz. While, not as advanced as Occuls Rift and Vive, the PlayStation VR is still quite comparable in quality and will be available at a lower price when compared to the competition.

The other main hardware of the bundle is the processor unit, which is pretty small as it measures at 143 mm by 36 mm by 143 mm while weighing in at around 365g. The unit is designed to provide object-based 3D audio processing in addition to the “social screen” feature, which converts the video feed into a normal video for the television screen.

The pack also comes with the physical disc release of PlayStation VR Worlds, a bundle that contains the following virtual reality experiences: Danger Ball, Into The Deep, Scavenger’s Odyssey, The London Heist and VR Luge.

The rest of the content include a PlayStation Camera, stereo head buds, PlayStation VR Demo Disc, two PlayStation Move motion controllers, HDMI cable, VR headset connection cable, AC adaptor and AC power cord. Although the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle comes with stereo head buds, you are better off getting an audio headphone if you want quality sound output to further immerse yourself into the virtual reality experience. Fortunately, you can use any 3.5mm headphone.

If you don’t own one already, we recommend going with the Sennheiser brand as it has a great reputation when it comes to comfort in addition to sound quality. PlayStation Move Charger

If you are looking for a stylish way to store and/or recharge the two PlayStation Move motion controllers that come with the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle, then you should consider purchasing a charging station as well.

We highly recommend picking up the Sony Move Charging Station with DualShock 4 Adapters as it is designed to recharge up to two PlayStation Moves and/or DualShock 4 controllers simultaneously. Ark: Survival Evolved, Dreams, Drive Club, EVE: Valkyrie, Gran Turismo Sport and Rigs: Mechanized Combat League are a few of the notable titles that have already been confirmed to take advantage the of the virtual reality headset.

In order to play online, however, you will need to be a member of the PlayStation Plus service. Subscribers also get other benefits, such as exclusive discounts on the PlayStation Store in addition to having free access to PS4, PS3, Vita and PSP games (the list will refresh monthly).

So, if you aren’t currently subscribed, you can pick up a one year subscription of PlayStation Plus with this page.

PlayStation 3 Accessories and PlayStation Move Games

The above-mentioned PlayStation Move was initially intended for PlayStation 3 games. So, if you are picking up the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle, you might want to consider trying out the motion controllers on PlayStation 3 games as well.

To do so, you will need a PlayStation 3, PlayStation Eye camera (which is not the same as the PlayStation 4 camera) and (depending on the game) the Playstation Move Navigation Controller. You can check these out with the following links: PS3 console, PlayStation Eye Camera and Playstation Move Navigation Controller.

In terms of PlayStation 3 games, we suggest taking a look at Child of Eden, Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest, Sorcery in addition to the two Sports Champions games.
