Why Bloodborne makes the PS4 worth buying for those who were previously holding out

Bloodborne_Chalice-Dungeon-2In just a little over a year after its initial launch in North America, the PlayStation 4 has already sold more than 20 million units worldwide. With that said, there are still plenty of gamers holding out on purchasing Sony’s current-gen console. With the release of Bloodborne, however, the PS4 is now definitely worth buying if you were previously sitting on a fence. If you still need some convincing, you can check out our list of reasons as to why the system is a must-buy below.

Bloodborne is a Killer App

The PlayStation 4 already has a big library of games. However, most of the releases so far are also available on multiple platforms. For gamers who primarily play on the PC and/or Xbox One, there have been very little incentives to purchase the PS4 as there hasn’t been a must-have exclusive killer app for Sony’s current-gen console.

Bloodborne filled in that gap quite nicely. The PS4 exclusive is the latest project by From Software, the developer of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. The recently-released game is an evolution of the mechanics of the Souls titles as it is still incredibly difficult and filled with asynchronous online elements (including cooperative and competitive play).

From Software did make some distinct changes as the combat speed has been increased. The development team also encouraged players to take a more offensive approach with the new health regain system, allowing them to regain some HP immediately after getting hit. As a result, fans of the series should have something new to look forward to while prospective players can check out the most refined experience crafted by From Software yet.

Bloodborne is one of the highest rated games over the past several years and you can only play it on the PlayStation 4. If you were looking for the one great exclusive that you can’t play anywhere else to buy a PS4, then From Software’s latest project is the answer you have been seeking.

Other Current Exclusives

Of course, most gamers won’t be buying a system just to play one single game. Fortunately, there are a few other exclusives that may appeal to them. inFamous: Second Son has also been received very well. While the reactions are a lot more mixed with Driveclub, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack and The Order 1886, each of these games have some redeeming qualities that may appeal to your tastes if you take a chance and jump in with an open mind. inFAMOUS_Second_Son-PS4

Upcoming Exclusives

If the other current exclusives aside from Bloodborne do not interest you, Sony also has a promising lineup of upcoming PS4-only games. The notable ones are Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the latest project from the award-winning Naughty Dog studio. Polyphony Digital already confirmed the development of Gran Tursimo 7 while a Ratchet and Clank reboot should be coming out later this year as well. Of course, there are also some great-looking smaller exclusives such as Everybody’s Gone to Rapture and Rime. uncharted-4-a-thiefs-end

Superior Console Versions of Multiplatform Releases

Of course, you don’t have to limit your own tastes to just exclusive games. Almost all major third-party multiplatform games in the past and future are on the PlayStation 4. In a majority of the cases, the console versions, including the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, tend to look the best on Sony’s current-gen system as well.

These games also include remastered releases of last-gen games such as Final FantasyX|X-2 Remaster and The Last of Us Remastered. When combined with the exclusive releases, the multiplatform games formed a stellar lineup for the PS4. So, if you are getting a PlayStation 4 just for Bloodborne, there should be plenty of games to play after you are done exploring the city of Yharnam.

Being a killer app, Bloodborne makes a perfect starting point for the PlayStation 4. The rest of the software lineup (both current and future) on the system should hold you over for years to come as well.
