How to earn a lot of gil quickly and easily in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Money can be hard to come by in Final Fantasy XII. However, The Zodiac Age includes a new feature that will enable you to earn gil quickly, easily and repeatedly. You can find out how to do so with or guide below.

Before we begin, let’s take a look at a few elements to this money making scheme:

About the Trial Mode

Trial Mode was previously added in Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System. It is a mode where you can import your team from the main game in order to fight through 100 continuous battles that become increasingly difficult.

In Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System, you can’t carry any of the items/weapons/equipment you picked up in Trial Mode to the main game. That has changed in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, however, as you can now bring whatever you acquired to the main game.

Stage 1 of Trial Mode

The first stage of the Trial Mode is quiet easy as you will only be fighting a group of Level 1 Dire Rats. With that said, if you explore the area, you will find two treasure chests on opposite ends of the upper levels in the small sewer arena. One of the chest contains a potion while the other contains the Diamond Armlet.

About the Diamond Armlet

The Diamond Armlet on its own is a pretty good accessory as it will make the wearer immune to thunder attacks. Furthermore, it will increase the rewards you will get when it comes to opening chests, coffers and more. You will need the Accessories License 3 to equip it. With that said, the Diamond Armlet sells for 6,000 gil in shops.

About Auto Saves vs. Manual Saves

Another new feature introduced in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is the auto save. The game will automatically save your progress at certain points during the main game as well as the Trial Mode. The auto save will appear at the very top of your save files when you choose to load the game. It has an arrow pointing down to a rectangle symbol on top of the save file image.

Preparations

If you defeat all the aforementioned rats in Stage 1 of the Trial Mode, you will instantly move onto the next battle in Stage 2. If you did not grab the Diamond Armlet before then, you are going to miss out on it. For this reason, we recommend turning off attack gambits for your entire party. Alternatively, you can just use one party member with his or her gambits turned off.

Step 1

To begin, select Trial Mode from the main menu. Load your save from the main game (either Auto or Manual Save will work) to head to the first stage.

Once the battle begins, ignore the Dire Rats and head straight up the staircase in front of you. From there, turn left and head up another flight of stairs to get to a higher level. You should see a treasure chest there. Open it to acquire the Diamond Armlet. If you want. you can also get a potion in the treasure on the opposite end of the arena.

Afterwards, defeat all the Dire Rats. The game will then teleport your party to the Stage 2 area. From there press the Options button on your DualShock 4 controller to bring up the pause screen. Press the Square button to quit and return to the main screen.

Step 2

From the main menu, chose the Load Game option so that you can get back to the main game. By doing so, you should see that there is a auto save file for your progress in the Trial Mode.

When you chose to load that file, the game will give you a warning about your Trial Mode progress being lost and, therefore, you will have to start back at Stage 1 if you decide to play that particular mode again. Pick the Yes option to load to the main game.

In the main game, you can go to your inventory to confirm that you have the Diamond Armlet accessory is in your procession. You can then save your game. Exit right back to the main menu.

Head to the Trial Mode once again and then load the same save file from your main game (do not load the Auto Save file of the Trial Mode). If done correctly, you should be on the first stage again.

Simply repeat the process of getting the Diamond Armlet, killing all the Dire Rats, exiting Trial Mode at Stage 2, loading your Trial Mode auto save progress to your main game and then saving in the main game in order to get an endless amount of Diamond Armlets that you can sell for 6,000 gil each.
