For the uninformed, the PDP Universal Media Remote has been officially licensed by Sony for use with the PS4. It is designed to give the user complete control of the system’s media playback via a Bluetooth connection. It also comes with home, share and other buttons from the DualShock 4. Along with the PlayStation 4, the remote is compatible with audio receivers, set top boxes in addition to television sets as well.
If you haven’t heard already, Sony launched a media player for the PlayStation 4 at E3 2015. The application is capable of playing MKV files along with other video formats in addition to supporting select audio and images files.
The PDP Universal Media Remote is expected to come out sometime later this October. So, if you would rather use a regular remote instead of the DualShock 4 controller for playing videos and other multimedia purposes, you might want to check out the upcoming officially licensed PS4 remote control.
