Parents looking to buy the most popular gaming Christmas gifts during Black Friday and the holiday shopping season in 2014 have plenty of options to choose from. Nevertheless, only a few of the recent games can be played cooperatively together. So which 2014 games are the best co-op family-friendly experiences worth buying? Find out below:

The company behind Call of Duty found another big franchise with Skylanders. For those unfamiliar with the video games, the products uses a mechanic where an action figure can be used in the video game. Aside from the starter set, parents can also purchase additional characters and figures. While Skylanders Trap Team is the newest release for the series in 2014, the previous games should be available cheaply around the Christmas shopping period.

The biggest rival to Skylanders is the Disney Infinity series. Using a similar concept, the licensed video game utilizes action figures based on the popular Disney brands to be used as characters in the virtual world. In addition to traditional gameplay, it also features a toy box mode where gamers can create their own worlds. Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes, the second game in the series, is available this year. The first release, Disney Infinity, should also be heavily discounted by the time Xmas hits.

LittleBigPlanet 3-22. LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4 and PS3)

Speak of creations, the LittleBigPlanet franchise is the pinnacle of creating and sharing levels. Therefore, parents and children can play millions of levels created by other users for free in addition to building their own. Although the other the other LittleBigPlanet games are going to be cheaper, LittleBigPlanet 3 does come with a bunch of new elements, including three new playable characters with unique abilities. The sequel will also include all of the levels created from LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2.

Minecraft is one of the most popular video games of all time and with good reason. The videogame lets users build any structures they want using different blocks. For instance, larger worlds can be created on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Up to four players can play the two games too, even with other users online.
