2015 Holiday Shopping Guide: Must Have Xbox One Accessories

Microsoft has really made the Xbox One a system worth buying on Black Friday or anytime during this holiday season thanks to exclusive games like Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5: Guardians. Along with new multiplatform releases (such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Star Wars Battlefront), there are plenty of reasons to jump in if you haven’t done so already.

If you are planning to buy the Xbox One as either a gift or for your own personal enjoyment, we also recommend picking up the following accessories.

External Hard Drives

Depending on which bundle you bought, your Xbox One will either come with a 500 GB or 1 TB internal hard disk drive. While that may seem like a lot at first, the amount of free space will be depleted quickly thanks to DLC packs, mandatory installations and patch updates. Not to mention that Microsoft recently launched Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility, which lets you download and play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One HDD, as well. So, if you and/or a loved one are planning on using your console a lot, you should invest in an external hard drive.

Thankfully, Microsoft teamed up with Seagate to release an officially licensed 2 TB external HDD, which you can check out with this link. If you want even more added space, you can also check out the compatible Seagate Expansion Hard Drives with the following pages: 3 TB version, 4 TB version and 5 TB version.Seagate-Game-Drive-for-Xbox-2TB-Green-4

Controllers

One of the biggest complaints regarding the original Xbox One Wireless Controllers is the lack of native headset support as gamers had to buy an adapter. Fortunately, Microsoft was able to fix this issue in 2015 by releasing an updated version of the gamepad that comes equipped with the 3.5 millimeter headset jack.

If you are interested, you can check out the updated pads with the following pages: Xbox One Wireless Controller,  Xbox One Lunar White Wireless Controller, Xbox One Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians Spartan Locke Wireless Controller and Xbox One Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians Master Chief Wireless Controller.

The Halo 5 pads also come with bonus Req pack as the Master Chief version includes the Dauntless visor while the Spartan Locke has the Resolute visor.Limited-Edition-Halo-5-Guardians-Controller-Master Chief-4

Xbox One Elite Controller

In 2015, Microsoft also released a new controller called the Xbox One Elite. This highly-priced pad comes with a set of six interchangeable thumb sticks, four paddles and two directional pads. Not to mention that the product also includes Hair Trigger Locks for faster input. So, while it may be expensive, the Xbox One Elite Controller is worth checking out, especially if you like customizing you gamepad.

You can find the elite version of the official Xbox One pad here.

Battery Pack

The Xbox One Wireless Controller does not come with an internal battery as it requires AA external batteries. To save money in the long run, you should pick up the Play and Charge Kit. The rechargeable battery pack will be fully charged in just four hours. You can even charge it when the console is in standby mode.

You can purchase the Play and Charge Kit here. A bundle containing the new version of the Xbox One Wireless Controller, as well as the battery pack, can also be purchased with this link.

Headsets

While the Xbox One comes with a chat headset, it doesn’t compare to a 7.1 Surround Sound one, especially if you or your loved one want to be as immerse in your gaming experience as possible and don’t want to invest in a speaker system. If you don’t mind the high price tags, we suggest picking up the following 7.1 Xbox One headsets: Astro Gaming A50 Halo Edition, Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 500X and Turtle Beach Ear Force Elite 800X.

The above-mentioned Astro Gaming A50 Halo Edition also comes with a Req Pack, which unlocks the exclusive Astro Gaming in-game emblem.

Kinect

While Microsoft is no longer emphasizing support for the Kinect camera with the Xbox One, you will be missing out on some pretty good motion games such as Dance Cenral Spotlight, Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved, Shape Up as well as the Just Dance titles. If you and/or a loved one are interested in the aforementioned software products, make sure you buy Kinect here.

Xbox Live Gold

Last but not least, you will be missing out on plenty of content if you don’t subscribe to Xbox Live Gold as you will need to be a member in order to play multiplayer online games. Fortunately, Microsoft has sweeten the deal recently by adding monthly free Xbox 360 and Xbox One games to download while also offering exclusive discounts. If you aren’t a member, you can buy a one year membership with this link.If you are buying the Xbox One system on Black Friday on anytime this holiday shopping season, make sure to check out the above accessories as well so that you can get the most out of your purchase.
