Perhaps the hardest puzzle in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is the one located in Chapter 5 where you have to move tiles around in order to match shadows with murals from two different angles. While the game gives you all the time you need, you will have to solve the puzzle in 10 moves or less in order to earn the Shadow Theater trophy. If you are having trouble unlocking this bronze trophy, or solving the puzzle in general, you can check out our strategy guide below.
How the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy shadow puzzle works
In order to get a locked door to open in Chapter 5 of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, you have to solve a puzzle where you have to move tiles around a 3 by 3 grid in order to cast shadows to match the two murals on the wall. One of the murals feature “Shiva gifting Parashurama the axe” while the other contains “Parashurama chopping off Ganesh’s tusk.”
To move these tiles, Chloe have to lift up any of the nine switches on the border of the grid. Doing so will slide the pieces away from Chloe to the opposite direction. Every time you pull up a switch, it counts as a move. Once you managed to match both murals with the casted shadows, the door will be unlocked.
Earning the Shadow Theater trophy
Before we start, you can check out our diagram of the shadow puzzle with the image located directly below this paragraph.
As you can see above, we have labeled each of the nine switches that Chloe can pull up. Keep in mind that our diagram is based on the camera always facing towards the “Parashurama chopping off Ganesh’s tusk” mural with the “Shiva gifting Parashurama the axe” mural located to the left hand side of your viewing angle.
Because you have free camera movement, you can easily be disoriented in terms of which switch you should pull up next. Therefore, you should make sure to use our diagram above as a visual reference in order so that you are following the correct steps.
Furthermore, we recommend creating a entirely new save file, separate from your current one, before starting the puzzle. This is because, if you managed to solve the puzzle but did so in more than 10 moves, then you will miss out on the Shadow Theater trophy. The game will then auto save to your current file, meaning that you have to replay Chapter 5 all over again to get to the same point. With a new save file, however, you can reload back to the start of the shadow puzzle.
Using our diagram as a reference, you have the pull up the following switches in order:
- F
- H
- J
- C
- D
- A
- F
- I
If done correctly, the door is unlocked and you will be able to earn the Shadow Theater trophy.
