As you may have heard, Sony announced that the release date for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has been delayed from 2015 to the spring of 2016. The announcement upset many PS4 owners who were looking forward to playing Nathan Drake’s latest adventure this year. To make the delay less disheartening, we have compiled a list of the top five upcoming Sony exclusive games (which are only coming to the PlayStation platforms) for the current-gen console that should make the wait for Uncharted 4 feel much shorter. Check out our rankings below.
5. Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance
The Disagea series is known for its insane amount of content. Along with long main campaigns, there are also plenty of side content that will last you hundreds of hours. The PS4 exclusive Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance adds even more depth to the turn-based strategy role-playing game with more attacks, classes in addition to a revenge mechanic that kicks in after a party member is knocked out. Nippon Ichi is also taking advantage of the more powerful hardware to increase the amount of characters on screen exponentially.
You can preorder Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, which is arriving later this fall, with this link on Amazon.
4. The Tomorrow Children
The Tomorrow Children is an ambitious new I.P. from Q-Games, the studio behind the PixelJunk series. The upcoming release is similar to Minecraft in that you can mine different objects to gather resources and build various stuff. You also have to deal with gigantic beasts that will constantly invade your home base of operations. Thankfully, there are other players that exist in the same world as you that are (hopefully) aiming for the same goals as you.
The Tomorrow Children has been very well received so far after a multiplayer beta test. The final version of the new I.P. should be coming out sometime later in 2015.
3. Dragon Quest Heroes
Dragon Quest Heroes marks the return of the Dragon Quest series on PlayStation consoles for the first time since the release of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King for the PlayStation 2. Instead of a traditional JRPG, Square Enix decided to team up with Omega Force to create an action-RPG title where you and your party members can take on huge groups of enemies at once. As you may expect from a Musou game, there are plenty of battles to fight through along with post-game content and multiple playable characters that will keep you busy for a long time.
Dragon Quest Heroes was released on February 26 for both the PS4 and PS3. Square Enix is only translating the PlayStation 4 version in North America, however, which isn’t a bad thing when you considered that it has better graphics, a faster frame rate and more enemies on screen. You can preorder the upcoming release from Square Enix here.
2. Persona 5
One of the more anticipated PlayStation 4 games in general, Persona 5 will be marking the high-definition debut of the Persona series. The fifth installment is refining the addicting social and role-playing game elements that were introduced in Persona 3 and Persona 4. The first real trailer of the sequel shows an impressive visual style that few games can match. With the previous two games lasting a least 60 hours respectively, gamers should be in for another extra long and engrossing experience with the upcoming release.
Persona 5, which was originally announced for the PS3, was confirmed during a press conference set right before Tokyo Game Show to be coming to the PS4 simultaneously as well. The PlayStation exclusive should be launching before the end of 2015.
1. Bloodborne
After the revolutionary Demon’s Souls, From Software is teaming up with SCE Japan once again with the development of Bloodborne. The new I.P. shares a lot of similarities to the Souls games as it is still a brutally difficult game with seamless cooperative and competitive online play. With that said, the upcoming release switches things up by making the combat faster and more fluid. A new randomly generated dungeon feature has also been added, which should extend the already lengthy and highly replayable game.
Bloodborne, which has already been delayed, is expected to come out on March 24. If you haven’t already, you should preorder the highly-anticipated exclusive release with this link on Amazon.Along with the above-mentioned games, you should also check out Toukiden Kiwami (which was ported from the Vita to the PS4) and Final Fantasy X|X-2 Remaster (a remastered release that originally came out exclusively for the PS3 and Vita). You can preorder both titles on Amazon with these next pages: Final Fantasy X|X-2 Remaster and Toukiden Kiwami.
As you can see above, there are plenty of upcoming 2015 Sony exclusives that will take some time to finish. Hopefully, these games will be good enough to make the wait for the eventual release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End feel shorter.
