Jake Strouckel, Marketing and Communications Manager at PDP, has provided some more details on the upcoming Mortal Kombat X Fight Pad. In a YouTube video, he said that the new controller was created with the fighting game community in mind as the company listened to comments from gamers.
One of the aspects be mentioned was the use of micro switches for the face button in order to provide tactile feedback. The directional pad should also offer the best control method when it comes to a 2D fighting game like the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.
With that said, the lack of analog sticks means that the Mortal Kombat X Fight Pad will not work with first-person shooters and won’t be great in 3D platformers due to the lack of analog sticks.
PDP’s latest product is expected to come out in April. One version of the controller is made for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC while the other is compatible with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. You can preorder the two iterations of the gamepad on Amazon with these next links: Xbox One/Xbox 360/PC and PS4/PS3. The Mortal Kombat X videogame is officially releasing on the 14th of April Sony’s and Microsoft’s HD consoles as well as the PC platform.
