Thanks to GameStop, the release date for the second wave of Super Smash Bros. Wii U Fight Pads has been listed. The Donkey Kong, Link, Luigi and Samus versions of the third-party controller are coming out on the 20th of March. You can preorder the gamepads with the Amazon links below this paragraph.
If you haven’t read our previous report, the Super Smash Bros. Wii U Fight Pads are manufactured by PDP and officially licensed by Nintendo. These controllers are built similarly to the classic Gamecube pad with some notable exceptions. For one, the C-Stick has been replaced with a regular right analog stick. PDP also changed the shoulder buttons to accommodate for the L, R, LR and ZR inputs.
While mainly advertised for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the Fight Pads can also be used for other releases that support the classic controller and classic controller pro. It can be paired with select Virtual Console retro games as well. On the other hand, you will need a Wii Remote in order to connect directly with the Wii U.
PDP already released the Mario, Peach and Yoshi versions of the same pads on the launch day of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U last month.
