The download size has been revealed for the PlayStation 4 version of Sonic Mania. When viewed directly from the PS4, the product page for the game on the PlayStation Store shows that the product will take up just 211.29 MB of free space on the hard disk drive of the console. If you are interested, the digital version of the old-style Sonic game is available for preorder with this link on Amazon.
The small file size should not be too surprising as Sonic Mania is a 2D platformer featuring retro-style graphics. With that said, it is still running at high-definition resolutions in addition to being 60 frames per second.
For the uninformed, the upcoming title remixes classic levels from the older games with new layouts and boss fights. Players will be able to control Sonic in addition to Tails and Knuckles. Along with the co-op mode, there is also a competitive multiplayer.
Sonic Mania is being developed, in collaboration with Sonic Team, by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon and PagodaWest Games. Sega will be publishing the title when it launches on the 15th of August in the North American region.
In addition to the PlayStation 4, Sonic Mania is also coming out for the Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox One.
