One of the biggest remastered games coming out this year is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. The Wii U version of the classic game will be bundled with the Wolf Link Amiibo in the North American region. So is the bundle worth buying if you are looking forward to the upcoming release or are you better off getting the standalone version? Before you make your decision, let’s take a look at some factors that you should consider.
Pricing
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Wolf Link Amiibo Bundle is more expensive when compared to the standalone digital release of the videogame. With that said, the bundle is cheaper if you decide to buy the game first and the figure separately at a later time. You can check out the current price tags for the two with the following links: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Wolf Link Amiibo Bundle and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Digital Code.
HD Remastered Version
While The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is somewhat expensive when compared to other remastered ports, Nintendo EAD and Tantalus made some significant improvements to the Wii U version.
One of the biggest enhancements involve the graphics. The resolution jumped from 640 by 480 pixels to 1920 by 1080 pixels. Some of the textures were also replaced with high-quality ones. Finally, the lighting was also adjusted to be more realistic when compared to the Wii and Gamecube versions. There are also big changes made to the gameplay as well. By using the Wii U Gamepad, you will be able to view the map as well as instantly switch between the items and wolf/human forms. The gyroscope can be used for aiming as well.
In terms of in-game content, Nintendo decided to streamline some elements such as reducing the amount of Tears of Light requirements (from 16 to 12 for each area), increasing the limit for the Giant Wallet to 2,000 rupees, improving the horseback riding and swimming controls in addition to adding the Ghost Lantern item (which allows you to spot Poes during daytime).
The new additions include the Hero Mode, which makes Link take double the amount of damage while also mirroring the game’s world (in the regular game, he well be left handed as opposed to being right handed). Multiple Miiverse stamps are hidden in the world as well.
So, while Twilight Princess HD costs more than your typical HD remastered game, it does feature some significant improvements to justify its price tag.
Wolf Link Amiibo Features
With Amiibos, you will be able to get some new features as well. For instance, the Link and Toon Link figures will replenish your arrows while using Shiek and Zelda figures will restore your health. Fans looking for a more difficult experience can use the Ganondorf Amiibo, which doubles the amount of damage Link can take (and is stackable with the new Hero Mode).
With that said, the Wolf Link Amiibo offers the most benefits. By using this figure with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, you will unlock a new dungeon called Cave of Shadows. After finding its location and clearing all 40 floors of this area, which is filled with enemies and other obstacles, you will earn the Bottom Wallet item that is capable of carrying a maximum of 9,999 rupees. Nintendo also announced that the same Amiibo will be supported in the upcoming Zelda Wii U game as well although the company has not gone into specifics.
