The Last Guardian is the latest project from Fumito Ueda, the acclaimed director and lead designer behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The upcoming title appears to combine both of his previous games as players have to guide a computer-controlled NPC through combat and puzzle scenarios. To do so, they will also occasionally climb up the massive creature named Trico.
The first official trailer for The Last Guardian was shown during Sony’s press conference at E3 2009. The software product, which was originally developed exclusively for the PlayStation 3, kept getting delayed. Ultimately, Sony decided to move the game to the PlayStation 4, which then require a massive porting project that took several more years.
Fortunately, the end is in sight as Sony announced at E3 2016 that The Last Guardian will be releasing on the 25th of October in the North American region.
