Turtle Beach Ear Force Xbox One headset features comparison: Stealth 500X vs. Elite 800X

The Stealth 500X and Elite 800X are part of the Ear Force line of gaming headsets from Turtle Beach. While both products are expensive, the two products are worth buying when you considered the amount of features they offer. Surround Sound

The most notable feature of the high-end Xbox One headsets is the DTS Headphone: X 7.1 Channel Surround Sound. When supported, gamers will be able to hear which direction a particular sound is being made. This is especially helpful when playing a competitive online shooter such as the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Halo 5: Guardians.

Fortunately, both the Stealth 500X and Elite 800X have this feature. The former also comes with custom DTS Surround Sound modes for different game genres, movies and music. The 800X comes also comes with custom DTS Surround Sound modes along with enhanced genre-specific presets for games, movies and music.

Wireless Connection and Range

Both Turtle Beach headsets will have a frequency response of 20Hz – 20kHz. The two also have a maximum range of 30 feet each.

Earcup and Speakers Design

For the earcup, the 500X comes equipped in black fabric with foam cushion in addition to a closed around-ear design. The earcup of 800x is made of the closed around-ear design along with the black synthetic leather and memory foam cushion, which should make it more comfortable overall.

As for speakers, both of the products have 50mm with Neodymium Magnets.

Microphone

The Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 500X comes with a removable omni-directional microphone.The Turtle Beach Ear Force Elite 800X also has an advantage in this department as it includes a dual hidden noise-cancelling microphones.

Weight

The 800X is slightly heavier at 13 oz when compared to the 500X, which is 11.3oz in weight.

Game Input

Both products can also use digital optical (Toslink) with digital optical pass-through to connect directly to the Xbox One.

Charging Feature and Battery Life

The Stealth 500X comes with a USB charging cable. When fully charged, its rechargeable lithium polymer should provide up to 15 hours of gameplay.

The Elite 800X also uses the rechargeable lithium polymer, although users will only be able to get 10 hours of usage (at most) with a full charge. With that said, this Xbox One gaming headset does come with magnetic charging stand that also doubles as the transmitter. The stand will give you a convenient way to store and charge the 800X.
