Update: According to the Xbox Singapore Facebook page, the controller is not real: “Too bad this Concept Controller is only a Fantasy..”
It looks like Microsoft will be releasing a Final Fantasy XV Edition of the Xbox One Wireless Controller as Play Asia recently listed the unique looking gamepad. You can check out a picture of the product underneath this paragraph. So far, the Xbox One Wireless Controller Final Fantasy XV Edition is set for release in Asia only. With that said, you can import the product as it should be region free.
The controller may mean that Microsoft has some sort of marketing deal with Final Fantasy XV, at least in the Asian region. The two companies previously teamed up for Final Fantasy XIII.
Final Fantasy XV has been in development for nearly a decade as it was originally unveiled as Final Fantasy Versus XIII on the PlayStation 3 in 2006. The software product disappeared for a few years before reemerging at Sony’s E3 2013 press conference. Major gameplay and story changes were made as the main directorial duties switched from Tetsuya Nomura (who is now working on Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3) to Hajime Tabata (the director behind Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Type-0).
The 15th mainline installment of the JRPG series is expected to come out in 2016 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If you are interested, you can preorder FFXV on Amazon with this link.
