Upcoming Nyko Data Bank adds 3.5 inch HDD compatibility to PS4

20th-Anniversary-ps4-03It looks like Nyko will be releasing a product in the near future that will give gamers more options when it comes to upgrading their hard disk drives of the PlayStation 4. Amazon has listed the Data Bank with what is most likely a placeholder release date set for the 31st of May. You can check out the price and/or preorder Nyko’s latest accessory with this link on Amazon.

The Nyko Data Bank is designed to replace the top HDD cover of the PS4, enabling you to attach a 3.5 inch hard drive. Previously, gamers can only connect a 2.5 inch HDD to Sony’s current-gen console. The listing mentioned that the Data Bank is compatible with “almost all standard” 3.5 inch hard disk drives. Last but not least, a LED indicator is included to show when the PS3 is accessing the data stored. Unfortunately, no pictures have been revealed for the product so far.

If you have not read our previous story, Collective Minds released a similar product for the Xbox One with the Media Hub as it allows gamers to attach 3.5 inch internal HDD to Microsoft’s current-gen console. You can check out the Xbox One accessory on Amazon with this page.

So it looks like third-party companies are taking advantage of the lack of support from the console manufacturers when it comes to adding compatibility with bigger internal hard disk drives for the PS4 and Xbox One.
