Project X Zone 2 U.S. box art adds Shenmue’s Ryo Hazuki and other characters

Amazon has updated the product page for the upcoming Project X Zone 2, revealing the box art of the handheld game. If you are interested, you can preorder the 3DS-exclusive crossover game with this link from the shopping website. You can check out the U.S. cover, and compare it to the Japanese one, with our media gallery below this paragraph.

As you can see, the U.S. box art adds three characters: Alisa Illinichina Amiella from God Eater, Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers and Ryo Hazkui from Shenmue. The additions of the latter two is somewhat surprising when you consider that there hasn’t been a new Darkstalkers game in ages while God Eater 2 is still a Japan-only release. With that said, the box art does feature other characters from somewhat obscure game franchises as well.

The inclusion of Shenmue is not too surprising when you take into account the amount of buzz being generated with Shenmue 3. A Kickstarter for the game was announced at Sony’s E3 2015 press conference earlier this year in June. The campaign broke records as it received more than six million dollars in funding.

Project X Zone 2 is going to be released early next year in North America on the 16th of February.
