Konami has announced more details for Metal Gear Online 3. The multiplayer mode is included at no additional costs with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (which you can preorder on Amazon with this link). First off, the company confirmed in a press release sent to us that the multiplayer is, in fact, the third iteration of the popular multiplayer mode.
For the uninformed, the first iteration of Metal Gear Online came with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, a PlayStation 2 re-release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The second iteration came out with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. While Peace Walker also include multiplayer components, it looks like Konami does not count those features from the native handheld release as a mainline Metal Gear Online.
For the third iteration, the “gameplay and aesthetic styling” will be taken straight out of the single-player mode of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The main focus is going to be “Tactical Team Operations” as you will be able to customize the strength and abilities of you character via a class system. As shown in the trailer, you can also play as “key characters” from the story such as Big Boss and Ocelot. If you haven’t already, check out some screens of the mode below this paragraph.
Both Metal Gear Online 3 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are expected to come out in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
