The latest iteration of the Hori Battle Pad for Wii U has been released in the North American region. If you are interested, you can purchase the Link Version from Amazon with this page.
The latest Hori product has been officially licensed by Nintendo. It has a similar shape to the classic Gamecube controller with some notable differences, such as an extra should button, larger directional pad in addition to three turbo settings. The L and R buttons have been modified to be used as short strokes, which is important if you want more precision in a fighting game like Smash Bros., as well.
To use the Hori Battle Pad for the Nintendo Wii U, you will need to plug it into a Wii Remote. Although it is mainly advertised for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you can also use the gamepad with compatible games (including Virtual Console titles) that support the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro.
The Link Version of the product features a gold-colored designed with the Tri Force symbol. So, if you a fan of The Legend of Zelda series, you might want to check out the newly available controller.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U came out last year on the 21st of November in the U.S.
