Capcom’s Greg Moore has further discussed some of the new aspects, via multiple Twitter messages, in the upcoming Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. The Senior Community and Online Specialist for the company first confirmed that the storyline from the Vergil mode is actually set before the events of Devil May Cry 3, which is somewhat interesting when you considered that DMC4 takes place after DMC3 (which is the first in the series in terms of timeline). Check out his comment below:
@GTO_PAO The Vergil mode is set prior to the events of DMC3.

In another Twitter message, Greg Moore also confirmed that fans of the series may be able to catch a hint regarding the series canon in the remastered release of Devil May Cry 4:
@BrandonJLambert @Jebus_sama @VictoriaSC91 FWIW, you might catch a hint pertaining to the overall series canon if you’re pretty observant.

Last but not least, a fan asked in the Devil May Cry 3 costumes for Lady and Trish, which are exclusive to the limited edition physical release of Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition in Japan, will be made available in North America as well. The Capcom representative replied by saying that he has nothing to share currently but will make a proper announcement in due time:
@tundragamer As I’ve said before, we’ll have more info to share about the costumes in coming weeks. We haven’t shared any specifics yet.
