Masaaki Yamagiwa, Producer of Bloodborne, has added some info about the alpha test eligibility of the action-RPG. He clarified that the details that were announced during the Tokyo Game Show is only for Japan:

To be eligible for the Japanese alpha test, you must be a PlayStation Plus member and download a ticket from the Sony Entertainment Network Store (also known PlayStation Store) from the 24th of September to the 29th. Not everyone who got a ticket will get in as only selected winners are going to receive a confirmation email. The alpha test is being done to analyze the network code and sever load. Additionally, Masaaki Yamagiwa referred to the Messengers as the mascot of Bloodborne, calling the creepy monsters a classic character created by From Software. The Messengers are loyal to the Hunter and streamline the asynchronous online elements:
