Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain came out in 2015 on the 1st of September. Despite being critcally acclaimed, the sequel ended up being controversial due to the departure of the series creator, Hideo Kojima, from Konami. Not to mention that the ending was incomplete as a huge portion of the final scenario was scrapped.

The aforementioned Hideo Kojima has started his own independent studio. He decided to partner with Sony for his first project, which will be a new intellectual property. As a result, the game will only be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC gaming platforms.
