Jason Vandenberghe compares For Honor’s combat to Dark Souls

In an interview with the PlayStation E3 2016 LiveCast, Jason Vandenberghe was asked to compare the combat of For Honor to the Dark Souls series. The creative direction at Ubisoft Montrreal replied by saying that For Honor will give you full control of your own defense and your own space. He also added that, while Dark Souls did a great job at putting your attention on your enemy with timing and animations, your actions are really based on the length of enemy animations.

With For Honor, he believes that the player’s action will focus on attacking, blocking, counterattacking and parrying as your are dueling. Instead of rolling around and trying to stay out of each other’s way, the combat in the upcoming game is more about staying close, making the fights feel more personal and intense.

Jason Vandenberghe went on to state that the pace of combat in For Honor is good while the shooter-like control scheme should feel comfortable.

For Honor is expected to be one of the biggest releases of 2017. Ubisoft’s new intellectual property will be launching on the 14th of February for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. If you are interested, you can preorder For Honor with this link on Amazon.
