Microsoft recently announced a new bundle for the Xbox One. The special edition package comes with a Cirrus White Xbox One in addition to a digital copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. So is the new product worth buying or are you better off waiting for another bundle? Let’s take a look at the content inside the package and other elements.
Cirrus White Xbox One System
The Cirrus White Xbox One system was originally available along with Sunset Overdrive. However, that bundle sold out quickly in North America. With the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle, Microsoft is giving customers who missed out previously a second chance to get the special color variant.
In addition to the system, the package also includes a matching Xbox One Wireless Controller. So, if you have been waiting to get the Cirrus White Xbox One, the new bundle is the perfect opportunity to do so without having to pay a lot of extra cash. Not to mention that the product has the same price tag as the other SKUs (you can check out its price with this page on Amazon).
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Halo: The Master Chief Collection has a somewhat mixed reaction. The compilation was received very well when it was originally announced at E3 2014 as it contains four mainline installments of the series: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4.
Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 3 and Halo 4 were ported from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. On the other hand, Halo 2 got the remastered treatment where players can switch between the original graphics (with a native resolution bump) and upgraded textures on the fly.
Along with the four mainline games, the compilation also includes all the DLC packs, the Halo: Nightfall live-action series and the Halo 5: Guardian multiplayer beta (which has ended). Last but not least was the inclusion of the multiplayer modes for each game in the collection.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection ended up getting a lot of great pre-release review scores as it provided a ton of value, especially for fans of the Halo series. After launch, however, the compilation was plagued with connection issues that took months to resolve. Fortunately, it looks like you won’t have any major problems finding a match if you decide to buy the Cirrus White Xbox One Special Edition Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle.
Aside from the multiplayer issues at launch, you will find more than enough value from the four Halo games.
Exclusive Xbox One Games
Of course, you have to consider whether or not the Xbox One is actually worth owning. Fortunately, the platform has a solid list of exclusives. Along with the above-mentioned Halo collection, the console also has Forza Motorsport 5, Killer Instinct and Sunset Overdrive. The future is also looking bright with Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians, Quantum Break, Scalebound in addition to the next Crackdown and Gears of War installments in development.
Multiplatform Xbox One Games
The Xbox One also has all the popular multiplatform games such as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Dragon Age Inquisition, Mortal Kombat X, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and TitanFall. The future lineup looks great as well with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Mad Max, Star Wars Battlefront and more. As you can see, there is more than enough Xbox One games to pick from currently and in the future if you decide to buy the bundle.
Recap
The Cirrus White Xbox One Special Edition Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle is worth checking out if you are a fan of the color design and/or Halo as it provides a lot of value for its price. Not to mention that the software library is very strong for the platform, so you will have plenty to play in the near and far future.
