Are the Dark Souls 3: Day One Edition and Collector’s Edition worth buying?

One of the biggest releases of 2016, Dark Souls 3, will be getting Collector’s and Day One editions. So are the special bundles worth buying if you are looking forward to the upcoming action role-playing game? Before you decided on the latest Dark Souls products, let’s take a look at a few possible factors that could sway your purchasing decision is one way or another.

About Dark Souls 3

First let’s talk a little bit about the videogame. Dark Souls 3 does not deviate too far from the previous games in the series. Old and new players can expect a difficult, but often times fair, experience with an action combat system that takes into account stamina with every attack, dodge and shielding.

One of the main changes, when compared to Dark Souls 2, is that there is now a general magic meter (similar to Demon’s Souls) instead of allotted amount to spells. Just like your health, you will need an Estus Flask (separate from your HP restoring one) in order to restore your magic meter. The other major change is the speed as you character will move quickly and smoother in a similar manner to Bloodborne.

In terms of new features, the upcoming game will be adding Battle Arts, special abilities that are tied to specific weapons. Thus, gamers will be able to use one of his or her weaponries to launch enemies in the air while others will let you hit harder with a power stance.

With Hidetaka Miyazaki taking over the directorial duties once again (he was the main director behind Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne), Dark Souls 3 is shaping up to be the best installment in the series yet.dark-souls-3-3

Day One Edition Extras

The biggest extra in the day one edition is the official soundtrack. The CD should come with 24 songs from the videogame, which should feature plenty of haunting and epic tracks that set the mood. The other extras include an exclusive o-sleeve cover in addition to a starter edition of the official Prima Games strategy guide (if you are interested, you can check out the various versions of the full release of the book with the following links: Game Guide, Collector’s Edition Game Guide and Estsus Flask Edition Game Guide). Take a look at all the extras included in the package with the image below this paragraph.

The collector’s edition comes with the same soundtrack and starter guide as the Day One Edition. Exclusive to this bundle is a cloth map, official art book, steel book case along with a 10-inch Red Knight statue. You can check out what the Collector’s Edition looks like below this paragraph.

So while Dark Souls 3 Collector’s Edition is the more expensive option, you do get a lot more extras when compared to both the Day One and standard editions of the videogame. Dark Souls III Collectors Edition
