A look at the upcoming officially-licensed PS1 coasters from Numbskull

Numbskull has another unique merchandise for PlayStation Fans. The company will be selling a set of four PS1 coasters, according to a listing from Amazon.de. You can take a look at a few small images of the products below this paragraph.

The officially-licensed PS1 coasters pay homage to the back and front covers of Destruction Derby, Gran Turismo, PaRappa the Rapper and Wipeout. The listing also mentioned that the coasters are heat resistant.

The original Playstation came out first in 1994. With a few exceptions, most of the games for the system came in jewel cases. If you aren’t careful, these cases tend to crack and/or chip rather easily. With that said, it looks like the above-mentioned coasters from Numbskull should end up being more solidly built.

Of the above-mentioned games, only Gran Turismo seems to be the only active franchise that is still going today as Polyphony Digital has already stated that Gran Turismo 7 is in development for the PS4. There is also a rumor that suggests a PaRappa the Rapper title may also be in production.

The last Destruction Derby game, titled Destruction Derby: Arenas, came out for the PS2 in 2004. Studio Liverpool’s final Wipeout release, Wipeout 2048, was released in 2012 for the Vita.
