Survival horror games to expect at E3 2015

If you haven’t heard already, Konami recently announced the cancellation of Silent Hills. Although the promising game won’t be at E3 2015, there are a few upcoming releases from the same genre that should be able to fill in the huge hole. Below, you can find a list of survival horror games to expect at E3 2015.

Corpse Party: Blood Drive

Corpse Party: Blood Drive is the concluding third game in the thrilling Corpse Party series. The Vita exclusive brings the Heavenly Host Elementary School to life for the first time in 3D. Along with some new gameplay mecahnics, you can also expect the compelling story arch to wrap up at last. Xseed Games already confirmed that the localized version will be at the upcoming event.

DayZ

At GamesCom 2014, Sony confirmed that DayZ is coming to the PlayStation 4. For the uninformed, the upcoming game started out as a popular mod for ARMA 2. It puts players in an open-world environment trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. Even in its unfinished state, DayZ has already sold millions of units on the PC. Hopefully, we will be able to hear more about the console release at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 was initially set to come out this spring before being delayed until 2016. An early video shows that the sequel expanded the core gameplay elements from an island into the state of California. The Yager Development has plenty to prove at E3 2015, especially after the success of Dying Light (which was developed by Techland, the creator of the first Dead Island).

H1Z1

Similar to DayZ, H1Z1 is also an open-world game based around the zombie apocalypse. The game has also been confirmed for PlayStation 4 along with the PC. The Early access release of the game has been plagued with bugs. With that said, it still sold to more than one million customers on computers. Hopefully, we will see some improvements at the convention.

Fatal Frame for Wii U

Fatal Frame for the Wii U has been available in Japan since last fall. However, Nintendo did not confirm that the survival-horror game will be localized until this past April via a Nintendo Direct episode. The publisher should provide more details on the U.S. release during their upcoming E3 2015 Digital Event showcase.WiiU_FatalFrameworkingtitle_illustration_01

Resident Evil 7

Capcom has been building a lot of goodwill with Resident Evil recently thanks to Resident Evil Revelations 2, Resident Evil HD Remaster in addition to the upcoming Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster. It wouldn’t surprise up to see the publisher announce Resident Evil 7 in some form at E3 2015 as well, especially when you considered that it has already been three years since the release of Resident Evil 6.

SCE Bend Studio

The first-party studio from Sony was previously responsible for Resistance Retribution, Uncharted: Golden Abyss in addition to the Syphon Filter series. Their latest project is rumored to be an open-world survival horror game. Based on the development team’s talent, there should be plenty to be excited about. With any luck, we will get a glimpse at the videogame at E3.

Soma

The developer behind Amnesia is back with another survival horror experience. In Soma, you get to explore an underwater facility, which is home to robots with human characteristics. If you are disappointed with the cancellation of Silent Hills, then Soma might be able to whet your appetite.

Soma is coming out for the PC and PlayStation 4 on the 22nd of September.

State of Decay MMO

Undead Labs recently completed the development of State of Decay Year-One Edition for the Xbox One. Their next project will be another zombie-based game, this time taking place in a massively-multiplayer online environment. With State of Decay already providing a solid foundation, the next game from the development team should be special.

The Evil Within 2

Tango Gameworks recently got done releasing the final DLC pack for the first Evil Within. While it may still be too early to talk about a potential sequel, Bethesda Softworks will be holding a press conference for the first time in the company’s history at the electronic Entertainment Expo. Hence, a teaser is certainly possible.

Until Dawn

Sony’s new intellectual property combines the quick timed events and branching story elements from Heavy Rains with an added survival-horror twist. As a result, you will be able to determine who will die and who will live. Until Dawn demoed really well at the PlayStation Experience, so you can expect it to show up at the PlayStation E3 2015 Press Conference.

You can preorder Until Dawn, which is releasing on August 25, with this page.until-dawn-playstation-experience-7Even with the cancellation of Silent Hills, survival horror fans should have plenty to look forward to at E3 2015.
