About MLB 15: The Show
If you are a baseball fan, then you most likely heard of MLB: The Show series before. With EA’s Triple Play and 2K Sports’ MLB 2K series now defunct, Sony’s first party franchise in the only one in town in terms of AAA baseball simulation. Fortunately, the developer at SCE San Diego Studio has been doing a great job with the recent installments.
MLB 15: The Show also comes with some improvements. For the PlayStation 4, the game should look more realistic due to revamped stadiums, improved night lighting, animations that better represent the personalities of the players as well as the real-time use of the seasonal sun and shadows. Moreover, SCE San Diego Studio added for authenticity to the videogame by using real life companies for bats, batting gloves, cleats, fielding gloves.
In terms of features, you will be able to transfer your progress from the Franchise and Road to the Show modes in MLB 14: The Show to MLB 15: The Show. You can also unlock baseball cards based of the all-time great players (one for each team) as well as stubs to buy the new equipment and boosters for the aforementioned Road to the Show mode.
With the new additions and improvements, this year’s release seems like another solid entry for the franchise. If you are a fan of the sport, you should definitely check it out.
What’s Included in the 10th Anniversary Edition
For $10 more than the standard version, you can get the 10th Anniversary Edition of MLB 15: The Show. The special bundle comes with a slipcase along with a steel case. For those who are preordering, you will also get an extra DualShock 4 controller skin based on your favorite team or player. Otherwise, the rest of the bonuses are digital.
One of the extras is 12,000 stubs (valued at $9.99), which act as in-game currency to purchase various in-game items. You will also get 15 bonus item packs (worth $15.00) along with dynamic themes for the videogame and all 30 baseball teams.
The extras are nice but are not essential to your enjoyment of the videogame unless you don’t feel like grinding to get more stubs to unlock more in-game items.
Final Verdict
In terms of graphics, MLB 15: The Show definitely looks like the most realistic baseball videogame to date with the new visual improvements. With plenty of content to unlock as well, you should be playing this year’s installment for a very long time if you are a fan of the sport.
With that said, unless you really want to customize your PS4 with the dynamic theme of your favorite team and/or interested in the in-game bonuses, you may want to get the standard version instead of the 10th Anniversary Edition.
