Differences between Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Collector’s, Deluxe and Standard Editions

One of the biggest games coming out this fall is Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Gamers in North America have three editions of the first-person shooter the choose from if they decide to purchase the highly anticipated sequel. So what is the best suited release for you? You can find out with our comparison guide for the Collector’s, Deluxe and Standard Editions of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus below.

Standard Edition

The Standard Edition of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus comes with the game. The first-person shooter takes place in an alternate history in America after being invaded with Nazis. Players will once again play primarily as William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, the protagonist of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is being developed by Machine Games and published by Bethesda Softworks. If you are new to the series, you can expect an old-school first-person shooter with visceral gunplay and plenty of gory violence.

By preordering the game, you will also get The Freedom Chronicles: Episode Zero, a DLC mission that will introduce you to Joseph Stallion, Jessica Valiant and Gerald Wilkins as playable characters. Each of these playable characters will have his or her own unique abilities and weaponry.

The standard edition is available in both digital and physical formats. If you are interested, you can buy the game with the following links: Digital Version and Physical Version.

Deluxe Edition

The deluxe edition comes with the main game in addition to, if you preorder, the aforementioned The Freedom Chronicles: Episode Zero DLC mission. It will also include The Freedom Chronicles Season Pass, which features three post-launch expansions for the game.

The first pack is called The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe, which features the aforementioned Joseph Stallion, a football quarterback who will be fighting Nazis in Chicago and outer space.

The second DLC is called The Diaries of Agent Silent Death as it stars Jessica Valiant, a former agent and assassin of the OSS. She is tasked with infiltrating Nazi bunkers in California in order to uncover the secrets of Operation San Andreas.

The third and final expansion for Wolfenstein 2 is titled The Amazing Deeds of Captain Wilkins. Players will be playing as Captain Gerald Wilkins as he goes to Alaska in order to stop Operation Black Sun.

While The Freedom Chronicles Season Pass will be available separately, you do save a little bit when buying the deluxe edition bundle as opposed to the standard edition and season pass separately. The only caveat is that the deluxe edition is digital only. If you are still interested, you can purchase the bundle with the following pages: PS4 Version and Xbox One Version.

Collector’s Edition

The Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Collector’s Edition comes with the game disc (and The Freedom Chronicles: Episode Zero DLC mission if you preorder in advance) in addition to the following physical extras: limited edition steel book case, pocket manual and 9″x14″ Blitzmensch poster.

The centerpiece of the collector’s edition, however, is BJ “Terror-Billy” Blazkowicz action figure. The 1/6 scale statue stands at 12 inches tall and features several accessories: bomber jacket, hatchet as well as four guns. It will also comes with a Elite Hans packaging.

Unfortunately, the collector’s edition does not come with a season pass. If you are still interested, you can find the bundle with the following links: PC Version, PS4 Version and Xbox One Version.

The standard edition of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is the cheapest of the three available options. If you are interested in the post-launch DLC, then you might want to check out the digital-only deluxe edition instead to save a little bit of cash. Last but not least, the collector’s edition is for gamers who are interested in the action figure in addition to all the other physical extras.
