Paper Mario: Color Splash may be getting a limited edition

Paper Mario Color Splash_It appears that Paper Mario: Color Splash may be getting a limited edition. Amazon recently changed the listing for the standalone version, modifying its title to “Paper Mario: Color Splash – Wii U Standard Edition.” The online retailer does not normally mention a standard edition to a software product unless there is another option available.

Nintendo does have a history of creating limited editions, especially for first-party role-playing games with the recent releases of Fire Emblem Fates, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Not to mention that the company also likes to bundle Amiibo figures with select games as well.

For the uninformed, Color Splash is the latest installment of the Paper Mario franchise. Instead of a traditional role-playing game, Nintendo is referring to the upcoming title as a hybrid between action-adventure as well as turn-based RPG. Players will once again control Mario as he travels through Prism Island in order to restore the lost colors via his paint hammer.

Nintendo is expected to release Paper Mario: Color Splash, which is slated to be the last major Wii U exclusive game, sometime later this year for the Nintendo Wii U. If you haven’t done so already, the standard edition of the latest Paper Mario is available for preorder with this link on Amazon.
