Art director talks about the graphical effects of the Titan Shield in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

dues-ex-mankind-divided-titan-shieldIn a long video interview with GameTrailers, Jonathan Jacques Belletete talked a little bit about the unique Titan Shield in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. When activated, this ability will cover Adam Jensen with dark matter shell, giving him a big defensive boost in the process.

According to the executive art director of the project, the shield (which has a geometrical look) represents the “epitome” of what the franchise is in terms of aesthetics. He also revealed that creating the cool-looking effect took a “full year of work” as the development team had to use a “super advanced piece of tech.”

The Titan Shield went through tons of iterations as they try to get the shell to react and behave correctly, especially when Adam Jensen is being shot at. Lastly, Jonathan Jacques Belletete said that it was a “testament” as to what his team was able to do in-game as an external studio working on CG for the game had a hard time replicating the same effect.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be one of the biggest releases of early 2016 as it is coming out on the 23rd of February in the North American region. You can preorder the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC role-playing game on Amazon with this link.
