Bandai Namco’s Mike Chang talks about combat speed, focus testing and more for Dark Souls 3

dark-souls-3-1Mike Chang was interviewed on the upcoming release of Dark Souls 3 during a Twitch live stream for the GameStop Expo 2015. The Global Brand Manager at Bandai Namco Games America talked a little bit out the combat speed on the action-RPG, saying that it was faster when compared to the previous Souls games but not quite as fast as Bloodborne.

He also stated that timing is easier than before, making the quicker gameplay more accessible in Dark Souls 3 for newcomers who haven’t played the previous installments.

Another interesting tidbit is focus-testing. Mike Chang revealed that everything is run through Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s director. If he okays a particular element, than it is good to go.

Hidetaka Miyazaki previously directed Bloodborne while skipping out on Dark Souls 2. Mike Chang revealed that the director wanted to return to dark fantasy after Bloodborne as he enjoys the setting of Dark Souls.

Last but not least, the Global Brand Manager also hinted that the release date for Dark Souls 3 will most likely end up happening some time during the first half of 2016. If you haven’t done so already, you can preorder the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC action role-playing game with this link on Amazon.
