Is the WWE 2K17 Season Pass worth buying?

wwe-2k17-season-passJust like the previous installments, WWE 2K17 will be getting a bunch of post-launch support. So is the season pass for the wrestling game worth buying? before you jump to your own conclusions, let’s take a look at a few determining factors below.

Pricing

While the WWE 2K17 season pass can be a little bit expensive, it does contain plenty of content. Not to mention that, if you want all of the DLC packs in the bundle, you can save some money as opposed to buying each one separately. You can check out the price tag for the DLC bundle with this link.

You can also check out price for the Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with the downloadable version of the videogame as well as the season pass, via this page.

Hall of Fame Showcase Pack

While the base game does not include a Showcase mode, gamers will be able to download the Hall of Fame Showcase Pack. This DLC bundle features seven matches between the WWE Hall of Famers. You can check out the list of showcase matches below:

  • Big Boss Man (with Albert as manager) vs. The Big Show at Armageddon 1999
  • Cactus Jack and Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy Garvin and Michael “PS” Hayes) at WCW Saturday Night 1992
  • Ivory vs. Jacqueline at SmackDown 2000
  • The Fabulous Freebirds (Buddy Roberts and Michael “PS” Hayes) vs. Kerry and Kevin Von Erich at WCCW 1986
  • Papa Shango vs. The Godfather (dream match scenario)
  • Sting (gold and black tights) vs. Ric Flair at Clash of Champions 1988
  • Sting (n.W.o. Wolfpac ring gear) vs. Bret Hart at WCW Halloween Havoc 1998
Future Stars Pack

While the WWE 2K17 roster is quite big, it does have some notable omissions. Fortunately, a few are available as DLC. The Future Stars Pack focuses on newcomers to the Raw, Smackdown and NXT brands. The list of playable characters in this bundle includes Austin Aries, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Mojo Rawley and Tye Dillinger.

Legends Pack

On the other end of the spectrum is the Legends Pack, which features old school wrestlers. The big names in this expansion are Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, Eddie Guerrero, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Sycho Sid and Tatanka.

New Moves Pack

The season pass also comes with the New Moves Pack, which adds more wrestling maneuvers to the game. The new moves include the Charlotte’s Swingout Neckbreaker, Samoa Joe’s Face Wash Combo, T.J. Perkins’ TJP Clutch, Zack Ryder’s Elbro Drop and more.

Accelerator

Last but not least is the Accelerator, which will instantly unlock all the unlockable content from the VC Purchasable mode. Furthermore, this DLC will also let gamers change the attribute levels and overall rankings.

Notable Omissions

Unfortunately, the WWE 2K17 does not include all of the DLC packs. The most notable omissions are the NXT Enhancement Pack and NXT Legacy Pack.

The NXT Enhancement Pack, which is exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the wrestling game, adds Apollo Crews, Nia Jax and Shinsuke Nakamura as playable characters. It will also give players a 50 percent boost in points while training at NXT in the MyCareer mode.

The NXT Legacy Pack, which is exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases, will only be adding the aforementioned Apollo Crews, Nia Jax and Shinsuke Nakamura to the WWE 2K17 roster.

Furthermore, the pass also does not come with the MyPlayer Kick Start. This PS4 and Xbox One exclusive DLC pack will grant instant access to unlocking and boosting the ratings and attributes of a user created Superstar in MyCareer. Players will also gain access to all attribute-boosting clothing in the same mode.

Last but not least, the season pass is also missing the Goldberg Pack. This DLC, which is currently only available for customers who preorder the game, adds two versions of Bill Goldberg as playable characters as well as the WCW Monday Nitro and Halloween Havoc arenas.

Recap

As you can see above, the WWE 2K17 does not come with all DLC packs. With that said, the bundle does include the Hall of Fame Showcase Pack, Future Stars Pack, Legends Pack, New Moves Pack and Accelerator.

If you only want the DLC characters, you are better off buying the Hall of Fame Showcase Pack, Future Stars Pack and Legends Pack separately as the three of them add up to less than the price tag of the season pass.

If you are also interested in the New Moves Pack and Accelerator, then the WWE 2K17 season pass is worth the investment. You can purchase the pass with this link.

WWE 2K17 is releasing on the 11th of October in North American for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
