Is the Batman: Arkham Knight The Serious Edition Worth Buying?

Batman-Arkham-Knight-The-Serious-EditionAnother bundle was recently announced for the highly-anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight. The Serious Edition comes with the disc copy of the videogame in addition to the 1st Appearance Skin for Batman along with the exclusive hardcover 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. So is the newly-listed product worth a purchase? Let’s take a look at its content.

Batman: Arkham Knight Video Game

Rocksteady Studios already confirmed that Batman: Arkham Knight will be the studio’s last. The company came into prominence after Batman: Arkham Asylum became a surprise hit in 2009. The development team further expanded on the core concepts of the first game by bringing them to an open-world setting in Batman: Arkham City in 2011.

With the upcoming sequel, Rocksteady Studios will be making the Batmobile drivable for the very first time as Batman will be able to call for it at anytime while on the streets. The superhero has also been given some new combat and exploration abilities to add more depth to the experience. With the promise of providing an explosive end to the trilogy to boot, Arkham Knight is shaping up to be the best Batman game yet.

So it is no surprise to see the sequel (which will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) being one of the most anticipated releases of 2015.batman-arkham-knight-rain

PlayStation 4 Exclusive Content

If you have multiple platforms capable of playing Batman: Arkham Knight, you might want to consider getting the PlayStation 4 release. This is because Sony secured timed-exclusive rights for several DLC packs. The content include Scarecrow Nightmare Missions along with the following skins: Justice League 3000 Batman, Classic TV Series Batman and Classic TV Batmobile Skin. These DLC pcaks will remain exclusive to the PS4 until later this fall (at the earliest).

Batman 1st Appearance Skin

One of the extras in Batman: Arkham Knight The Serious Edition Comic Bundle is the Batman 1st Appearance Skin. This will allow you to change the character model to the classic costume. With that said, this outfit won’t have any effect on the gameplay as it is purely for cosmetic purposes.

25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth

The last item in the bundle is the 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. The graphic novel was originally released in 1989. It was written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Dave McKean. The above-mentioned Arkham Asylum videogame was also inspired by the book.

If you haven’t read it already, the Batman Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth is worth checking out if you are a fan of the videogame series, or just Batman in general. The 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is also quite expensive as a standalone product (you can check out its current price tag with this page on Amazon), so you are better off getting it along in the bundle if you want to get the most out of your money.

Verdict

If you are a big fan of Batman, then you should check out the Batman: Arkham Knight The Serious Edition as it is a lot cheaper than buying the game and graphic novel separately. Not to mention that you will also get the Batman 1st Appearance Skin. You can check out the bundle with this link. If you are just interested in playing the sequel (as none of the extras from The Serious Edition will add anything to the gameplay), you can just buy the standalone game here.

The Batman: Arkham Knight The Serious Edition is coming out on the same day as the standalone game, which is launching on June 23 in North America for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
